1. I Like It by DeBarge

Although an old ass song, you will never be sad while listening to it. This is the kind of song you play full volume in the car while your head’s sticking out the window, letting the air hit your face and hair, with your arms out, smiling and all that. It’s just that kind of song. You’re down? Play this song and your whole mood will change.

2. Another Time by NxWorries and Anderson.Paak

This one particular song has this mood, this vibe, this sway, that just gets you in the mood. Every time I hear this song it makes me move my shoulders like I’m a boss and just makes me feel like I’m at a jazz club in the 60s. It’s a good mood.

3. Forever by Noname, Ravyn Lenae and Joseph Chilliams

Noname never ceases to amaze me with her songs, but this one is the greatest one. Whu? Ravyn Lenae’s vocals. Don’t believe me? Listen to it. You can be crying and her vocals will stop those tears from falling and will make you feel as if you’re in heaven.

4. Happy Without Me by Chloe x Halle and Joey Bada$$

Now this song has kind of sad lyrics but, CHLOE AND HALLE’S VOICE! THEIR VOICE, THOUGH! I will never get over how heavenly these two angels are. And if this song brings you down, watch their love performance of it. Their good energy and smiles will sure make your day better.

5. Boo’d Up by Ella Mai

BA DUM, BOO’D UP. BIDI BA DUM, BOO’D UP. This is a song that you just can’t not sing to it. Even the shuttle driver that takes me from where I live to campus sings it out loud every time it comes up. It’s catchy, it’s happy, it’s good.

6. Tightrope by Janelle Monaé

A Classic™. This song, although it always reminds me of Glee, always gets me on my feet. Imagine, you’re crying in your bed, thinking of your breakup/GPA/FAFSA, and then suddenly, this song comes up. You will hop out of your bed before Janelle Monaé even gets to sing the first lyric.

7. Drip On My Walk by Kodie Shane

Your swag is dying out. Listen to this song. It’ll come back. You’ll start moving your shoulders back and forth, walking with style, smiling at everything. It’s just that type of song that makes you laugh.

8. Finish Line/Drown by Chance The Rapper

This is not only a happy song, it’s a motivational song. Lately, a lot of Chance’s song make you feel like you can do everything with God who strengthens you but this one? It makes you feel like that x 10. Not only is it a good ass beat, it’s also a great message, especially Noname’s verse (God bless Noname).

9. See You Again by Tyler, the Creator

WHO DOESN’T SING THEIR HEART OUT WHEN THEY HEAR “CAN I GET A KISS? AND CAN YOU MAKE IT LAST FOREVERRRRR?” I just wanted to personally thank Tyler, The Creator and Kali Uchis for this perfect song that makes me feel like I’m running in a field of grass like in the Sound of Music.

10. Changes by Dej Loaf

Now, if you’re an On My Block fan, then this song might make you cry a bit, but if you’re not… get ready ‘cause you’re about to feel like Will from Fresh Prince. When I tell you, this song? … A BOP! Gets you moving, walking with style, feeling GOOD!

Whatever you’re going through, get out of bed, find a song, and go about your day. Everything happens for a reason, take it one day at a time, one song at a time.
