Protect Your Skin During Spring Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tampa chapter.

Spring break is your time to relax, have fun, and take some time for yourself. As typical college students, most of us are probably either traveling or finding any way possible to get in warmer weather for spring break.  It’s easy to get distracted and forget about your skincare when you’re out having fun in the sun, but you need to remember to protect yourself during this time.

RULE #1: WEAR YOUR SUNSCREEN

Your skin is precious, it’s something that you will be living with forever, therefore, you have to take care of it. Just a couple minutes in the sun can damage it. Although you may not see it, the damage is still there. Before you leave the house/hotel/airbnb/vrbo/resort or wherever you’re staying, make sure to apply SPF. It’s a crucial step and takes less than 30 seconds to do, so no excuses. SPF is essential in skin protection, which doesn’t mean you have to go buy 80 SPF. 30 SPF will do just fine! For those who are lazier, like myself, I use BB creams that have SPF already included in the formula. And before you ask, no, it’s not expensive. You can walk into your local Walgreens or CVS and buy cheap BB creams, moisturizers and foundations with built-in SPF.

Here are some of my favorite drugstore skin care items with sun protection, along with after sun skin care products:

1. Maybelline Dream Fresh BB

2. Maybelline FIT me Foundation

3. Aveeno Sheer Daily Moisturizer

4. Sun Bum After Sun Lotion

5. Burt’s Bees All Weather Chapstick
