As University of Tampa students, whether you live on campus and are tired of the school food, are a freshman without a car, or are busy studying for finals and need a break; there are various unique restaurants and cafe’s within walking distance for students to try out. Since we are all always searching for new places to eat, I have compiled a list of some of my favorite cafés and restaurants within walking distance from campus. These places all have an abundance of options and fit all the different cravings you may have.

1: Lady and the Mug

To start early mornings or if you need a new atmosphere to study, Lady and the Mug will satisfy all your needs. This is an aesthetically pleasing café as it is full of colorful and unique furniture and artwork. If you go with a group of four or more, they have a private room covered with comfy pillows and all the essentials for studying. Their menus consist of fresh baked goods, tiny sandwiches, specialty holiday drinks along with several coffee and non-coffee-based drinks. My personal favorite is their chai tea latte. Lady and the Mug is located at 510 W Grand Central Ave, Tampa, FL 33606, right behind Oxford Exchange and next to the Altis Grand Central Apartment complex.

2: Santoro’s Pizzeria

My second recommendation is Santoro’s Pizzeria because they “bring that Jersey Slice to Tampa”. I am from the Northeast, so having pizza that tastes like home and an environment that makes me feel like home is amazing!  Their food is cooked with fresh ingredients to create a unique selection of pizzas and sandwiches. Santoro’s is located at 1329 W Cass St, Tampa, FL 33606.

3: Tropical Smoothie Café

For a quick snack or lunch, Tropical Smoothie Café has you covered for all the healthy food you may be craving. They have a wide variety of flavorful smoothies, including fruit blends, super veggies, balanced fusions packed with protein, and tropical treats. Don’t forget to try one of their delicious flatbreads, chicken wraps, cheesy quesadillas, or grilled sandwiches. If you have a big appetite, you can do a combo to get any smoothie with any meal for a discount. Tropical Smoothie Café is just a short walk over the bridge that crosses the Hillsborough River located at 200 N Tampa St Suite G-120.
