What’s better than a sorority putting on an event for the entire campus? A sorority AND a fraternity! On Saturday, October 25, 2014, Alpha Chi Omega and Sigma Chi banded together to create G.I. CHI. This event was open to the student body.
The event took approximately three months to plan. G.I. CHI coordinator, Chrissy Daigle, said, “Brother Pete Sanchez also played a big role in organizing the event, but, other than that, all of the girls set it up, registered it, etc.” It seems as though both the fraternity and sorority collaborated well together in preparation for the event.
Participant and Alpha Chi Omega sister, Ashley Slak said it was an “awesome, yet different event.” The events included a tug o’ war, relay race, tire dash, and many more! It was a fun and challenging course for all of those that encountered it. Well, what did Sigma Chi think? Aaron Oldanie said in regards to fun, “a lot of it was playing on the obstacle course and playing sports with my brothers!”
It was a successful event that raised a large amount of money that was split between The Spring of Tampa Bay and The Huntsman Cancer Foundation. Stay tuned for more events from Alpha Chi Omega and Sigma Chi!
