Since I’ve been home quarantining, I’ve found many things to fill up all of my empty time. One of the first things I did was try to find a podcast I could really get into. While out on a walk, I found the Crime Junkie podcast. Hosted by Ashley Flowers and her lifelong friend Brit Prawat, each episode goes through the story of a crime. They cover everything from missing people, conspiracy theories, murders, serial killers and wanted people. I’ve found with many crime docs I’ve watched in the past that often the focus is mostly put on missing white women/girls. However, this podcast is very good at showcasing diverse cases. Flowers and Prawat share that often people of color that go missing do not get the same attention as their white counterparts. With this information in mind, the Crime Junkie podcast makes sure that their cases are diverse and that their coverage is as fair as possible.

This podcast is made in correlation with Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana, an organization that collects tips to capture killers and solve crime. Each episode is a different story and Ashley Flowers takes us through each story from the beginning. I’ve never really been one to sit and listen to a podcast but there’s something about the way that Flowers is able to tell a story that makes this one different for me. No joke, I’ve listened to sixty episodes so far and they’re each nearly an hour long… so yeah, the obsession is real.

Let me know if you listen to an episode and what you think!
