Meet this week’s Campus Celebrity: John Publicover!
John Publicover is a sophomore at The University of Tampa, where he is pursuing a degree in International Business and Finance. JJ is the President of Hillel, co-founder of the UT Investment club and a member of University of Tampa’s business fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi. Think that’s all? While only being 19 years old, JJ created a company that has become one of the largest voter registration networks in the country, where he has had the privilege to meet multiple US Senators, Governors, Congressmen, and presidential candidates in Washington D.C.. Publicover has spoken at one of the largest political conferences across the country; the same conference that many politicians attended including Senator Ron Paul, New Jersey’s Governor Chris Christie, and the infamous Donald Trump. JJ has also appeared on multiple radio shows as well as been featured in multiple articles.
JJ has traveled all over the world. He has been through the canals of Amsterdam, skied on the indoor slopes in Dubai, eaten some questionable, however delicious, food in Hong Kong, ridden horses through the Andes mountains in Argentina, and tanned on some of the most beautiful beaches in Uruguay. JJ had the opportunity to study abroad for five months in Argentina. He stayed with a host family who did not speak a word of English. Argentina was where he developed a love for South America- both the people and the culture. JJ learned how to Tango in Argentina, something you have to do since it’s the birthplace of the famous dance! JJ has been a resident of Hong Kong for the last several years and always loves to travel.
Publicover has not only started his own company, but he has had the pleasure of working for several influential companies throughout his career. These include: Academy Prep Center of Tampa, State Farm Insurance, and Fidelity Investments. Something that I find amazing is that Publicover was offered a position working for the Israel Security Authority. This organization is responsible for liaison with international regulatory entities, including foreign securities for cross-border cooperation and the global struggle against economic crime. JJ is an all-around awesome guy! He has accomplished a lot in these past two years and will continue to impress the University of Tampa in everything that he participates in. Watch out everyone!
