5 Reasons You Have to Check Out Toastmasters

Picking the perfect organization to get involved in can be a challenge.  Most organizations have one specific topic they focus on so only people interested in that topic get involved, but Toastmasters is different.  Here are five reasons why you have to check out this organization.

1.  You get to perfect your toast

No, I am not talking about finding the perfect crispiness to your bread.  I am talking about speeches.  No matter how short or long, no matter how much time you have to prepare or if you have no time. Toastmasters will help you gain the necessary skills to give the perfect toast every time.

2. You will better your communication skills

Toastmasters meetings are a learn-by-doing workshop.  During meetings you will have to give impromptu speeches on assigned topics, as well as accomplishing a series of 10 self-paced speaking assignments. These workshops will teach you how to think on your feet and get your thoughts across in a clear manner.

3. Your confidence will sky rocket

Confidence is key. Toastmasters will allow you to gain confidence in the area of public speaking. This confidence will not only help you in the business world, but will be a great asset to your social and love life.

4. Toastmasters meet every other Tuesday

Toastmaster meetings are every other Tuesday from 5:00-6:00pm in North Walker Hall room 135.  The next meeting will be September 16th, 2014. Only two meetings a month for only an hour each time?  That’s nothing! With all the great skills you are bound to gain through this organization, it’s worth it!

5. It’s a wonderful resume builder!

Toastmasters aren’t just a University of Tampa thing.  Toastmasters International is a non-profit organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills.  When a potential employer sees that you have accomplished the Toastmasters Challenge, you have a great chance at being put at the top of the pile for consideration.  Communication skills are a desperate need in today’s labor field so give yourself the edge and join Toastmasters!
