10 Things to Do Off-Campus for Under $25

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tampa chapter.

1. Surprises Along The Riverwalk ($0)

Take a stroll through Riverwalk and search for everything on this list: http://www.thetampariverwalk.com/visit/surprises.aspx! Can you and your friends successfully complete it?

2. Puppies Tampa ($0): 6031 N. Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa, FL 33614

Be careful with this one… Although walking in and playing with the puppies is free, it might be difficult not to fall in love and bring one back to campus!

3. Pinchasers ($6.99 per game): 4847 N. Armenia Ave, Tampa, FL 33603

Although it’s a little pricier at $13 an hour, on Friday nights from 11pm-2:30am and on Saturday nights from 9:30pm-2:30am, you and your friends can enjoy “cyber bowling,” when the lanes and bowling balls are glowing and great music is playing. Who needs to spend money on clubs when you can go bowling while enjoying the nightclub atmosphere?

4. Opry Glow Mini Golf ($8): 15732 N Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa, FL 33618

“Glowgolf,” or “glow-in-the-dark mini golf,” is extremely fun at a low price. The entire course is glow-in-the-dark, so naturally it’s way better than any typical daytime mini golf course! Try out the Laser Maze Challenge Obstacle for just $3 more.

5. Q-Zar ($8.50 per game but $7.50 each if you go as a group of 3): 7807 N. Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa, FL 33614

Those laser tag birthday parties in elementary school and middle school were always really fun, but it’s definitely a different kind of game when you’re in college. There are a bunch of different game options and it’s a perfect way to show off your competitive side.

6. Boing! Jump Center ($12 for first hour, $2 off with college ID): 624 Ware Blvd, Tampa, FL 33619

It’s literally a huge room with a ton of trampolines connected to each other…who wouldn’t want to experience that? Do some flips, jump bounce off the walls, and enjoy! You can also play trampoline dodge ball with your friends and totally act like a kid again.

7. Ice Sports Forum ($8.83 for a public skating session + $4.25 for skate rental): 10222 Elizabeth Pl, Tampa, FL 33619

You can never go wrong with ice-skating, especially when the weather gets a little warmer. Bring a date, hold hands, and try not to fall!

8. Cinébistro ($15): 1609 West Swann Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606

If you are over 21 years old, Cinébistro is the movie theater for you. The seats are ultra-luxurious and there is in-theater full service dining. There is also a full bar and lounge.

9. Florida Aquarium ($21.95 if you buy tickets online): 701 Channelside Dr., Tampa, FL 33602

From the Coral Reef Gallery, to The Journey, to the Madagascar Exhibit, to Penguin Point, this aquarium will have you in awe. Don’t forget to visit the stingray tank—you can pet them!

10. Lowry Park Zoo ($24.95): 1101 W Sligh Ave, Tampa, FL 33604

With 56 acres of natural habitats, this zoo can keep you busy for hours. Aside from the typical viewing habitats, there are many interactive exhibits as well! For just a few extra dollars, you can feed giraffes, stingrays, lorikeet birds and more.

Sky is a junior at The University of Tampa, majoring in Communications. Even though she was born in Maryland and goes to college in Florida, her heart will always be across the country in Los Angeles, California. Most of the time, you can probably catch her skating around campus on her longboard or clumsily walking into something while she's on her phone.
