Despite disheartening rumors that ABC’s new show Pan Am might be cancelled, it returned January 8th, after a short Winter hiatus, with a bang: aka the return of long lost former stewardess and total bombshell Bridget Pierce. Many viewers probably deemed her character through after we last saw her explaining to fellow stewardess, Kate Cameron, that she was placed in the Witness Protection program and banished to Kansas, after getting caught on the wrong side of some CIA spy business. Since it seemed like Kate had now taken over Bridget’s alias as Pan Am stewardess by day, Cold War Russian Spy by night and as far as any one else new Bridget had all but disappeared with not so much as a goodbye, not even to her former fiancé Captain Dean Lowrey, it was definitely a huge surprise for us to see her long blonde locks grace our TV’s once again.

The “bang” in the form of Bridget Pierce’s return was much escalated by the fact that we had just so recently fallen in love with the budding romance of Dean and his new flame, also fellow Pan Am Stewardess, Colette Valois. The sultry but sweet French siren, knows the minute she sees Bridget that drama and complications are destined to ensue. Needless to Bridget decided to crash back into the world of Pan Am at the wrong time, expecting Dean to take her Houdini business lightly, but being utterly disappointed when he denied her, which of course we loved him for (Team Colette!) for about 2 seconds until later on in the episode when Dean let Bridget seduce him into his own hotel room after a dispute with a now guarded Colette that left him sad and lonely.

While, the Bridget, Dean, Colette love triangle was certainly the most exciting drama in the comeback episode, the other characters did not disappoint. We find Kate -who, for those that don’t know, is diving deeper and deeper into her role as an undercover Russian Spy for the CIA- at the whim of a lie detector test after her most recent undercover spy, disaster mess, that involved her shooting a man. Maggie writes a crucial article for the village voice dissing her newest congressman/love interest’s political views and Laura is throne for a spin when Ted thinks he’s found the love of his life and gut wrenching for all of us who absolutely adore this little romance in denial, its not her.

We now find ourselves two more new episodes deep into the season and dealing with a serious cliff-hanger from last weeks episode; the shooting of beloved President John F. Kennedy. Although Pan Am is taking another short break this weekend and Super Bowl weekend, they are back in action after that. According to a recent tweet by the actress who plays Colette, Karine Vanasse, seen mentioned in a Huffington Post article, ABC is airing new episodes until February, just as it was supposed to. The internet and social media worlds are also buzzing with news from ABC that Pan Am is still very much in contention for next season and there is no chance that the current and first season will be cancelled. This is great news for all the 60’s loving fans out there that are completely caught up in the whirlwind lives of these four young, compelling and sexy women that are creating a new breed for their era one flight at a time. If you haven’t caught on to this exciting new American period drama yet or if you are already obsessed with the nod to 1960’s glamour and fashion that epitomize a Pan Am stewardess in the 1960’s, sit down and buckle up because adventure calls and it looks like this adventure is sticking around.
