As we enter the season of sentiments, homesickness begins to flow through the air. Nine weeks have passed since most of us left home for college. Although we’ve met new friends and embraced amazing experiences, when the cold air hits, it’s natural to miss the warm hugs and cozy small talks with our loved ones from back home. Lucky for us, Syracuse has some quick fall fixes to remedy your homesickness!

For the upcoming Halloween weekend, October 31st – Nov 2nd, you will be able to invite your parents and friends over for Family Weekend! From performances to soccer games, lots of fun activities are provided for family bonding. Here are some sneak peaks for the Top 5 events:

1. Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest: Want to begin your family Halloween weekend with a traditional game? Come to Schine Student Centre at 11:00 am, October 31st and find out which staff member will ‘carve’ their way to the top.

2. 12 th Annual Greek-or Treat: Haven’t experienced Greek life yet? No worries, bring your siblings and check in at Schine 228A, 3:00 pm-4:00 pm to join the SU Greek community afternoon fun activities and games.

3. Football Family Fun Zone: How about a pre-game family warm up? Band performances, product display and radio broadcast will be provided on the Quad two hours before the big game.

4. Men’s Football-SU vs. NC State Wolfpack: Nothing is more invigorating than a blood-pumping game after a week of exhaustion. Show your school spirit at the Carrier Dome on November 1st with your folks and friends!

5. A Cappella Afternoon: Need some music to soothe your ears after the roaring cheers of the crowd? No problem, SU a cappella groups give their live performances at Setnor Auditorium one ’o clock Saturday afternoon.

Last but not least, for those whose parents can’t make it for the weekend, don’t be discouraged. You’re so close to the biggest reunion of all: Thanksgiving! The annual holidy break starts November 23rd this year, which is only about 20 days of actual classes left minus weekends. Therefore, mes amis, cheer up! Put on your armor and charge at the last few weeks before diving into the joy of quality family time.
