Coachella may be the unofficial kickoff to the season of festivals. In early June, the annual four-day festival Bonnaroo is held on a 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tennessee. Bonnaroo showcases a variety of musical styles with artists this year such as Florence + the Machine, The Strokes, Wiz Khalifa, and Arcade Fire. And if you live in New Jersey, you know we have an annual two-day music festival, The Bamboozle, located in the parking lots of the Meadowlands Sports Complex (by the way, for those sports fanatics, it’s the home stadium for the New York Giants and New York Jets). There’s also the Vans Warped Tour, a touring music and extreme sports festival, which showcases more punk rock music.
For all y’all who have never heard of The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, more commonly known as Coachella, it’s a three-day annual music and arts festival in Indio, California. This year’s Coachella featured big-name artists like Kanye West, Kings of Leon, and Duran Duran. Tickets sold out faster than ever before – less than a week.
Each year the festival, held in the desert, is always marked by high daytime temperatures. Coachella is the perfect time to show off your stylish bohemian side. Here are some styles that definitely make an appearance each year:
Â
Â
The Sheer, bold-patterned, caftan. Or the airy, flowery lace maxi dress.
Â
Â
Â
The casual-cool cropped tops paired with high-wasted denim cutoffs or patterned shorts.
Â
Â
Floral mini-dresses paired cowboy boots. Ladylike dresses paired with tough, studded boots.
Â
Coachella is the perfect place to do some people watching. You probably noticed certain trends with each picture. Wide-brimmed hats are the perfect accessories to protect your scalp and to shield your eyes from the blistering sun. Comfortable shoes, no heels! Remember you’ll be in the desert, where dirt is as common as snow in Syracuse. For those braving the heat, don’t forget to slather on the SPF. And hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!
When you figure out the right combo to stay cool and look cool, you’ll be sure to have a fun-filled weekend to remember for life. I’m hoping I’ll be able to go before I graduate.
