Chancellor Kent Syverud’s Inauguration Day

This Friday, Syracuse University will be celebrating Chancellor Syverud’s appointment as SU’s 12th chancellor with an extensive series of events!

 

7am: Inauguration Run

Join the chancellor for a 1.2 mile jog around Main Campus.  It starts on the Quad at the Orange Grove and ends at Schine Student Center.

 

10:30-Noon: Academic Symposium- “Great Universities in the Next 25 Years”

Participants include Jim Boeheim, Shiu-Kai Chin, Ann Clarke, Marcelle Haddix, J. Michael Haynie, Cathryn R. Newton, Dan Pacheco, George Saunders, and Michael Speaks.  The symposium is open to the campus community and will be held in the Rose and Jules R. Sentor Auditorium in Crouse College. 

 

2PM: Fast Forward

Over the past moth, SU students have submitted videos with their inspiring ideas for student-led projects at Syracuse.  On Friday, you are invited to come watch as the students with the winning ideas pitch their final projects to the Chancellor and Trustees in the Joyce Hergenhan Auditorium.  

 

4PM: Inauguration Ceremony

The formal ceremony in Hendricks Chapel will include students, faculty and alumni representatives, members of the Board of Trustees, and former U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor. If you can’t attend the ticketed ceremony at the Chapel, you can watch it live at inaugraution.syr.edu on Orange TV Network channels 2 and 2.1 AND will be broadcast on campus at Watson Theater, Newhouse 3 Room 141, Crouse Hinds Auditorium 010, Grant Auditorium,  & a Large screen under heated tent in Shaw Quad.

 

5:15: Campus Celebration

Immediately following the ceremony, a celebration will take place on the Quad under an enclosed, heated tent.  Food, music, and entertainment will be available for members of the campus community and the public.
