Heading off to college is one of the biggest and scariest parts of being a teenager. It’s when you’re away from home for the first time without your family and friends. Joining a sorority is good way to ease your mind and help with this difficult transition. I have recently joined Zeta Tau Alpha, a sorority on my school’s campus, and I’m happy to say that it has been one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had in college so far. I joined Zeta for countless reasons but here are a few that stood out me in my recruitment process.

The Friendships

The girls in my sorority are some of the best people I’ve ever met. We had an instant connection because we automatically had something in common. As the greek process continued, and I got my Big and G- big, I have to say that my friendships among the girls only grew. I feel so loved and that I’ve finally found a place on campus. I can already tell that my sisters and I will hold friendships that I can carry throughout my entire life.

Service Opportunities

One of Greek life’s main goals is philanthropy. For example, my sorority’s philanthropy is focused on breast cancer; we even partener with the NHL to make October’s breast cancer awareness month a success. Some examples of what other sorority philanthropies focus on are eating disorders, homelessness, the Red Cross, and alzheimers. You can find sisters working in their communities to help countless philanthropies like these and many more. But this is just the start. In Greek life, there are so many opportunities to go and get invloved with in your community that the possiblities are endless.

You Can Make Connections

Being a part of an organization as large as a sorority, like Zeta, makes it easier to build professional relationships. Greek life will help by adding service and leadership to your resume, while it can also give you the opportunity to meet new people that can help you achieve your future career goals.

It Helps You Find Yourself

When you join a sorority, you gain a giant support system of sisters. No matter what you’re doing, what you need, or what is going on, there is always someone who will be there for you. When you are in Greek life, you never feel alone because you are constantly surrounded by the love of your sisters, who always have your back.

Home Away From Home

College is a tough time for everyone; it’s the first time you’re going to be leaving home. It’s pretty overwhelming at first. So how could a sorority help? Well, it gives you a place to call home while you’re far away. You gain a whole set of sisters and Greek brothers. And if you want a more literal home, you can live in sorority housing. Your sorority becomes a safe place full of family. I wouldn’t trade mine for the world.

There’s just nothing quite like Greek life. You’ll never get another chance to be totally surrounded by a sisterhood, like Greek life offers, except now. From meeting new people to putting yourself out there for the first time, take a leap of faith and go Greek.

Find your home away from home now! Nothing is stopping you!
