Resources for Breast Cancer Awareness

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Susqu chapter.

IN OCTOBER WE WEAR PINK!!!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a worldwide annual campaign to highlight the importance of breast awareness, education, and research.

Supported by a number of organizations including the National Breast Cancer Foundation, the month-long campaign hopes to help anyone affected by this terrible cancer. The good news is that most women can survive breast cancer if it’s found and treated early. A mammogram – the screening test for breast cancer – can help find breast cancer early when it’s easier to treat. National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a chance to raise awareness about the importance of detecting breast cancer early. Make a difference! Spread the word about mammograms, and encourage communities, organizations, families, and individuals to get involved. The Breast Cancer Charities of America website has some useful tips to help promote the cause, including images to upload to your Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram profile, using #pinkpose encouraging people to wear pink and post!!

Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer foundations goal is to end breast cancer forever. Susan G. Komen fought breast cancer with her heart, body, and soul. Throughout her diagnosis, treatments and endless days in the hospital, she selflessly spent her time thinking of ways to make life better for other women battling instead of worrying about her own situation. Moved by Susan’s compassion for others and committed to making a difference, her sister Nancy G. Brinker is doing everything in her power to end breast cancer forever.

That promise is now Susan G. Komen®, the global leader of the global breast cancer movement, having invested more than $2.1 billion since their inception in 1982. As the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists, their working together to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. Thanks to events like the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure®, and generous contributions from their partners, sponsors, and fellow supporters, they have become the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world.

This is such a huge campaign that touches so many hearts that the resources available to get involved and support this extremely worthy cause are easy to access and fun!!  Get involved and check out https://ww5.komen.org to donate or attend an event!!!  Now let us all wear pink in support of these strong courageous women!!! #PINKPOSE

I believe in PINK, I believe in being STRONG when everything seems to be going wrong and I believe in MIRACLES!!
