Dear Mom and Dad,
By the time you’re reading this, I will already be moved into school. I will be 2 hours away from you, but that shouldn’t make you upset. As I have grown up, you have taught me many valuable things, like how to be confident, or how to push forward for success. You both have taught me to be the bright and happy woman that I am today, and I can’t thank you enough for that. I will hold your lessons close to my heart every day as I navigate through this thing called life. I am happy to have a support system that loves me unconditionally and always pushes me to be a better me.
As I continue into my junior year of college, I wanted to write an article on the people who helped me get to where I am today. My parents have never stopped pushing my brother and me to be the best we can be. There have been endless nights of helping us study, coming to games after a long day at work, and many lessons that they have taught us over the last 20 years. I can definitely say that our parents are our biggest fans when it comes to Jimmy and me. Even though we may not always agree with what they have to say, there is always something to be taken from every scenario. We can never thank them enough for everything they have done for us.
Jimmy and I can remember all the times our parents have turned situations into valuable lessons. Like every child, we hated when our parents were right about a scenario where we were wrong. I used to hate when my mom would say, “I told you so.” But she was right. They have lived longer, seen more, and have been in the same situations as us growing up, which is why they know exactly what we are going through.
So here’s to you, mom and dad. Jimmy and I love you to the moon and back.
