Susquehanna University is located in a small, rural town in Pennsylvania called Selinsgrove. It is definitely a change of pace compared to my hometown and what there is to do compared to Maryland, but I’ve found comfort here and in certain places near my college town, too. These places are well known by others at the University, and I love that I discovered most of them through my friends. In no particular order, these are my absolute favorite places in Selinsgrove, PA.

1. Isle of Que Boat Launch

Located along the Susquehanna River, this boat launch is about a mile from the Susquehanna campus. Whenever I go here, I feel a lot more grounded and connected with nature. Sometimes I’ll go and eat lunch on the tables, or I’ll walk up and down the river with friends. Everyone I’ve met has also been really friendly, too.

2. Shikellamy State Park

This park is along the border of Northumberland and Union Counties. They have hiking trails, a marina, a boat launch, and an area to overlook Northumberland over the river. At night, it is super pretty to look at all of the town lights on the overlook, but it is also beautiful during the daytime.

3. Community Aid

This may seem like an odd choice, but I really enjoy thrifting clothes, and this is by far the biggest thrift store I have been to. I’ve never left here empty-handed and usually find things that will push me out of my comfort zone a little bit. Because I go here pretty often, I’ve developed a fairly impressive men’s sweater collection.

4. Downtown Lewisburg

Downtown is one of my favorite places to go on the weekends. I absolutely love window shopping and going to The Scratching Post, a cat café with adorable cats and kittens to adopt. Downtown also has Barnes and Noble, coffee shops, and different restaurants.
