Christmas has many traditions, from opening gifts to eating Christmas ham, drinking hot cocoa, to snacking on assorted holiday cookies. From singing Christmas carols to watching our favorite holiday movies, the Christmas season is “the most wonderful time of the year” in many households. Growing up I had two things to keep me occupied during this very busy time of year, books and movies. These images, imaginary or encapsulated through film, stay in your mind forever and shape the way you see this very special holiday.
Some of my favorite Christmas movies are included in the following list.
1. A Christmas Carol (Live Action, 1984)
2. How the Grinch Stole Christmas (The Jim Carey version)
3. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and the Island of Misfit Toys
4. Frosty the Snow Man
5. Gremlins
6. The Holiday
7. Home Alone
8. Smokey Mountain Christmas
9.Elf
10. Bad Santa
11. The Nightmare Before Christmas
12. Love Actually
13. Christmas with the Kranks
14. Four Christmases
15. The Santa Clause series
16. While You Were Sleeping
17. Jack Frost
18. The Night Before
19. The Polar Express
20. Krampus
21. Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas
22. The Nutcracker
23. Annabelle’s Wish
24. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
25. Deck the Halls
Every movie on this list probably brought a smile to your face, not to mention you probably forgot that some of these movies even existed or that they were even considered Christmas Movies. They’re not all typically played on Hallmark or ABC Family, but I promise you they are quality movies. Krampus is the only “horror” movie that I still consider a Christmas movie and there are is a surplus amount of Christmas movies that Netflix is producing this holiday season as well. I encourage you all to take a few days and indulge in some good old-fashioned holiday movie time with your friends and family this year. After all, it is the best part of the season aside from the music and twinkly lights outside.
