Do you love shows like Doctor Who, Stranger Things, Mythbusters, or Star Trek? Are you looking for your next TV series to binge? Whether you’re a full-fledged lover of Sci-Fi or you’ve never given the genre a try before, I highly recommend you add Eureka to your queue. Keep reading to learn all the reasons why I love this show!

The Story:

Jack Carter is a U.S. Marshal who accidentally stumbles upon Eureka, a town hidden from public eye and knowledge. Eureka is home to Global Dynamics, a top-secret government research facility.  After just a few days of hanging around while his car is being repaired, Carter is hired to be the new town sheriff. The show subsequently follows him as he transitions to life in the quirky town and builds relationships with Eureka’s even-quirkier residents. Sheriff Carter represents how most of us non-geniuses would react to the strange things that occur in Eureka. With loads of humor, drama, suspense, and even a few love triangles, this show is the total package and has something to offer for everyone!

The Characters:

Eureka is full of lovable oddballs, here are some of my favorite characters from the series:

Henry (Joe Morton)

Henry is Eureka’s jack-of-all-trades. He owns a garage in town where he does much more than fix cars. Henry is as smart as the rest of Eureka’s scientists and formerly worked for Global Dynamics. As Jack Carter’s unofficial mentor, Henry helps the sheriff adjust to life in Eureka and often helps him to problem solve.

Douglas Fargo (Neil Grayston)

Fargo is an accident-prone mess of a person. Like most of his fellow scientists at Global Dynamics, Fargo is incredibly smart. However, he often gets himself (and anyone standing nearby) into interesting predicaments. He’s super nerdy and overall just an adorable person. Not gonna lie, when I was younger and had just started watching the show, I definitely had a crush on Fargo.

Jo Lupo (Erica Cerra)

Lupo is Jack Carter’s deputy sheriff. She’s the actual definition of a badass female character. On first impression, she appears to be a man-eating gun-wielding force of intimidation. However, Lupo is like a big sister to Jack’s teenage daughter, Zoe, and you will see many different sides of her throughout the course of the show.

Vincent (Chris Gauthier)

Vincent is the town’s resident chef at his café Carpe Diem. He specializes in serving comfort food and gossip. Vincent’s role isn’t huge in the show, but he appears in most episodes and you will quickly begin to live for his sassy commentary.

The Plot:

I won’t go into much detail because I don’t want to spoil anything, but most of the episodes focus on individual catastrophes that are so unimaginable you’ll have to watch the show to understand what I mean! In a town full of crazy, intelligent people who constantly trying to invent new things, calculate scientific breakthroughs, and conduct experiments both at work and at home, there are innumerable opportunities for things to not go as expected. Nothing is ever simple in Eureka. You’ll be surprised at how even a movie night can quickly become an almost-disaster!

Everything about this show, including the theme song, makes it a great feel-good series. So, what are you waiting for? Start binge-watching Eureka ASAP!
