Since finals stress and general holiday-time stress is starting to really get to me, I thought it might be nice to take a break and think a little about some small, everyday things that make me happy. These are the things that I can depend on almost every day to cheer me up if I need it!

Rain

Okay I lied, maybe it doesn’t rain almost every day (but it would be pretty cool if it did as long as you don’t think about the adverse effects it would have for the environment). It happens often enough, though, to be something I look forward to every week. Rain makes me happy because it’s really pretty and calming, and it smells nice.

Sleep

Sometimes the only thing that gets me out of bed in the morning is the promise that I’ll soon be able to return to it. And when you combine the first and second items in this listicle, you get the unique pleasure of falling asleep or waking up with the comforting sound of rain in the background!

Coffee

The other thing that gets me out of bed is that first sip of coffee in the morning. It’s funny to think that in high school I never drank coffee at all, but now I’m totally addicted. Gotta get that bitter bean juice.

Seeing my friends and loved ones

All of my friends are just so cute and amazing. I’m very lucky to have so many supportive people in my life!

Drawing

I talk about this way too much, but I seriously don’t know what I would do if my hands suddenly broke and I couldn’t make art anymore.

If you find yourself feeling low, I recommend you do this too! Life always seems a little bit brighter when you learn to find happiness in small, everyday things.

I'm a sophomore Publishing & Editing and Graphic Design double major as well as an editor at and the treasurer of Her Campus Susquehanna. I love to draw, read, and play video games in my free time.
