What’s in Charlotte’s Bag?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Suffolk chapter.

Just like you can tell a lot about a man by looking at his shoes, you can tell a lot about a girl by looking in her handbag. I’m definitely one who hates to be unprepared, so this post should probably be re-named, “What Isn’t In My Bag?” My friends can usually rely on me to have anything they might have forgotten, and I mean anything. We’re talking Band-Aids, floss, tweezers, Q-tips, an umbrella, a Charlie Card, a nail file…you get the picture! However, there are some things that I will simply not leave the house without.

Here are my daily essentials:

The Bag:

During the semester, it’s vital that I have a handbag that is large enough to carry my books for class, in addition to everything else I lug around. Props to the girls who keep their purse and schoolbag separate, because I just don’t have the tolerance for that! I use the ‘Conical Tote Bag’ from AllSaints, and it stylishly fits my books, my laptop, and all of my other little necessities.

Michael Kors Wallet:

A simple yet chic Michael Kors wallet to hold all of the money I don’t have!

Dior ‘Crème de Rose’ Smoothing Plumping Lip Balm: This is simply the most luxurious lip balm in this world. The delicate rose scented formula moisturizes, softens, plumps, and even protects lips with SPF 10. I have already gone through two pots of this…nothing else will ever compare!

MAC ‘Myth’ Lipstick:

This is the perfect nude color, and has quickly become my everyday go-to lipstick. It’s a great compliment to winged eyeliner, as it really makes it stand out.

Ray-Ban Sunglasses:

Sunglasses are a must, whether they’re used as protection from the sun or used to hide tired eyes. I keep a pair with me at all times. As far as sunglasses go, Ray-Bans are classic, even though it’s always a struggle deciding which pair to wear!

Chloé Eau de Parfum Rollerball:

This young, fresh, and addictive powdery rose scent is so convenient to have in rollerball form so I can take it with me and refresh throughout the day.

Kate Spade 2014 Agenda:

My agenda and the pen I keep with it are, without a doubt, the most important things in my bag. If I don’t write my schedule, to-do lists, or important dates down, then I am completely lost. Unfortunately, iCal just doesn’t do it for me.

Crabtree & Evelyn Rosewater Hand Therapy:

In case you haven’t noticed already, I really like rose scented things! Dry hands are a no-no in my book, so I always keep a hand cream on me to moisturize, especially in the dry winter months.

Chewing Gum:

Chewing gum is essential! It keeps the mouth fresh in between brushes!

iPhone and Headphones:

Like everyone else in this generation, I am glued to my iPhone, and carry it with me everywhere I go, dressed in a leopard print J.Crew case. In addition to my phone, I always keep headphones in my bag, so I can listen to my music wherever and whenever.

Bobby Pins:

I must own hundreds of bobby pins. I stash them everywhere for fear of an out of place strand or the sudden desire to pin a piece of my hair out of my face. Most of my bobby pins accumulate at the bottom of my handbag, though, so they are always with me.

Hand Sanitizer:

I’m a germaphobe at heart, and these cute mini Bath and Body Works hand sanitizers make it difficult not to be.

Scarf:

If I’m not already wearing a scarf, the chances that I have one in my bag are high. Scarves are just as much for warmth as they are to spice up any old outfit, and it’s rare that I leave the house without one from fall to early spring.
