With October just rolling in, spooky season is officially upon us! Now is the time to plan all those fun Halloween events, and think about hosting your very own Halloween party! If you feel as though you won’t be able to host something that your friends will enjoy, fear no more! Here are some tips and tricks to having an awesome party this year.

1. Find some spooky (but affordable) decorations

There is nothing worse than showing up to a party where the hosts CLEARLY did not prepare. Having some decorations around really sets the mood and its something that you can easily do without breaking the bank. Amazon has some cheap decorations that are perfect for Halloween parties for under $5! What a steal!

2. Find your perfect costume

As a host, people will be expecting you to bring your A-game in the costume department. Find something that you are excited about! TV and movie characters are always a hit, or just turn yourself into a spooky goblin! Whatever it may be, go all out!

3. Have some sweet treats

For Halloween candy is kind of a given. Be sure to have a variety for those who may have dietary restrictions but also provide something a bit more substantial. Cupcakes, brownies and other dessert items are always a hit, and they can be decorated with some spooky frosting and sprinkles to set the right mood.

4. Come up with a creative set of drinks

There are so many ways to spice up everyday drinks! Whether it is coming up with a special cocktail or just adding spider ice cubes to the mix, having something different that fits the theme of your night will put a massive smile on your guests’ faces.

5. Have a costume contest!

Give your guests some friendly competition with a costume contest! Not only will this inspire to dress up, but it will also be a fun way for people who may not know each other to socialize! Every costume must be seen before voting, and at the end of the night tally up all the votes and announce the winner! Have some cute prizes (pins, plastic trophies, candy gift bags!) to give to the winner of each category!
