Six Ways to Work Pink Into Your Wardrobe for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Suffolk chapter.

“On Wednesdays, we wear pink.” Here at HC Suffolk, in October we wear pink. As most of you probably know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The goal of this annual, month-long event is to raise awareness of the disease and designate extra efforts into generating funds for research. It also aims to strengthen the support system that’s out there for women who have faced or are currently facing breast cancer. Breast Cancer Awareness Month tends to manifest itself in pink ribbons plastered on just about every product you can think of, from nail polishes to watches to credit cards. If you’re not crazy about sporting the pink ribbon, or want to show your support but aren’t sure how, here are some fun ways to integrate the versatile hue into your everyday look.

Quirky: Try pairing a graphic top with a faux leather skater skirt for a fun and unique way of rocking the baby pink trend. This sweatshirt gives off a cool and casual vibe, while the unexpected fabric of the skirt adds a fashionable flare. This look will have you standing out in a crowd yet is still super easy to wear.

Flirty: Step aside, LBD! This October, try swapping your boring black basic for a fun and flirty frock. The bold fuschia hue of this Topshop find is balanced by a classic silhouette, keeping it versatile. Pair it with black heeled booties and an embellished brass knuckles clutch for a rocker-chic vibe, or go classic with sky high nude pumps and a white bubble necklace.

Sophisticated: A magenta tank with a high neck is a must-have for your wardrobe this fall. This is not just your average solid top, boasting a bright jewel tone and a back zipper detail. Pair it with dark wash skinny jeans and a statement necklace for a night out, or with printed high-waisted trousers and a blazer for a new take on your typical business attire.

Sweet: For a look that would make T-Swift swoon, pair a pastel pink skater skirt with a lace collared tank and floral oxfords. To make this seemingly summery outfit work for fall, top it with an oversized beige cardigan. Feminine, fashionable, and functional, wear this ensemble anywhere from class to a lunch date.

Trendy: Say goodbye to your standard baby blues and say hello to this fresh take on denim. The pastel hue of these pants is a surprise for the fall, providing a sharp contrast to the reliable yet sometimes boring blacks and navies we’re used to seeing. Hesitant? Keep these high-waisted jeans understated by wearing them with a neutral toned sweater and flats. Feeling wild? Cuff the bottoms and rock them with a graphic t and buckled booties.

Classic: For a modern twist on a quintessential chambray shirt, try one in a pink shade. The boyfriend-style silhouette is contrasted by the girly salmon hue, keeping it pretty and professional. Chestnut riding boots and a multi-strand pearl necklace stay true to the preppy nature of the top.
