Shameless Season 8 Premiere

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Suffolk chapter.

Grab a seat on the L and prepare to take a trip to the South Side of Chicago. Why you may ask? Because everyone’s favorite crazy family is back, The Gallagher’s! On Sunday November 5th, 2017, Shameless season 8 premiered on Showtime at 9 P.M. Season 7 ended in December 2016 and now the almost year long wait for Season 8 is finally over. In case you missed it, here’s a short recap of the episode!

The season opened like any episode of Shameless does, with one of the Gallagher kids yelling at the audience for not remembering what happened in the prior episode. There was a quick recap of Season 7’s major events such as Carl going to military school, Svetlana stealing The Alibi Room from Kevin and Veronica, and the biggest plot twist of all,(heads up major SPOILER ahead if you haven’t seen Season 7) the death of Monica Gallagher.

Monica left her inheritance in true Gallagher fashion; a pound of meth for each Gallagher kid and Frank. Fiona wants to get rid of it all, but the rest of the family wants to sell it and get their money, after all, it’s what Monica would’ve wanted, right?

I won’t give away the entire episode if you’re still planning to watch it, and you definitely should! The episode gives you a glimpse into what all the Gallagher children are up to since inheriting their money.

The episode ends with a preview for this upcoming season and it looks absolutely insane. It looks like the Gallagher’s are getting into some wild trouble this season and I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds!

Tune into Shameless on Showtime every Sunday at 9:00 P.M. EST
