Senior Profile: Julia Demopoulos (CC’20)

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Suffolk chapter.

For the past four years, Julia Demopoulos has brought a fun, welcoming vibe and has created amazing content for Her Campus Suffolk, but sadly, it’s time to say goodbye to our fellow Ram and Campus Correspondant as she finishes her last year here at Suffolk. While COVID-19 has created a warped graduation experience for her, Julia’s constant cheeriness and zesty attitude has shined a bright light on a not-so-great situation, making her final year at Suffolk and Her Campus that much more bittersweet! That’s why this week we are highlighting Julia Demopoulos to celebrate her graduation, her Her Campus loyalty and celebrating her overall queen behavior!

1. Congrats on graduating! What are your post-college plans?

Thank you! I will be getting my degree in print journalism, but for right now, my post-grad plans are to pursue my minor and look for jobs and opportunities in the public relations field!  If possible, I would love to do some freelance writing on the side or start my own blog!

2. What’s the scariest part about leaving college and entering the real world?

I think the scariest part of leaving college and entering the real world is the uncertainty of what the future will look like. Graduating in the middle of a pandemic definitely adds a little extra fear, since we don’t know what the job market is going to look like over these next few months. However, I am confident that Suffolk prepared me for whatever the world will throw at me, and am hopeful that I will find work within the next few months!

3. What was your most memorable moment here at Suffolk?

Ahh, these questions are always so hard because I can never pick just one moment! I’ve had so many memorable experiences during my time at Suffolk and I’m so thankful for the lifelong friends I met, the places have traveled, and the opportunities I’ve been able to have these past four years. I will always cherish and carry these memories with me!

4. How have you been coping with graduating while in quarantine?

Graduating in quarantine is definitely not how I envisioned this milestone in my life and at first I had a hard time coping as I was incredibly heartbroken that I had to miss out on so many lasts of my college career. As time went on, I took a step back to realize that I’m not alone in all of this and leaned on my friends who were going through the same thing. I know Suffolk plans for us to have a ceremony at some point in time, but even if I don’t get to walk across that stage in a cap and gown, I will not let that diminish what I’ve accomplished!

5. Any fun plans to make an at-home quarantine? Something for your blossoming Tik Tok account?

Quarantine and being at home has actually been beneficial and has allowed me to do a lot of the things I didn’t have time to do before! It’s been so nice to be able to get back into cooking, working out more often, and having time to journal and write. As for my blossoming TikTok, I’ve had so much fun creating videos! It’s been such a good way for me to have a lot of laughs and express my sense of humor during this time.

6. What was the best part about your Her Campus experience?

The best part about my Her Campus experience was getting to meet so many awesome people on campus who love to write and create content as much as I do! I loved being around so many creative, hardworking people and I truly enjoyed reading everyone’s articles every week.

7. Lastly, what’s one thing you’ll miss most about Suffolk and/or Her Campus?

As for Her Campus, I’ll miss being able to write an article every week! Being a part of Her Campus gave me a platform to publish my work and share it with others, and I’ll always be grateful for that opportunity. As for Suffolk, I’m going to miss everything. Seeing my friends everyday. The Program Council Office on the 3rd floor of Sawyer. The Welcome Center where I worked, and so much more!
