The famous shoes from the nineties that added a few inches to your adolescent height are making a comeback, and you heard it here first! These staggering platform sneakers first became known by the oh so fabulous Spice Girls. Baby Spice, Ginger Spice and Scary Spice all trotted around stage in sneakers that were insanely high. Now, designers all over the world are pumping up their soles.

I first noticed this when I came home to Sweden for summer. The Stockholm fashion is rather special, and so much fun to come home and immerse myself in. A shoe as common as the Nike Airs to Americans is the Converse sneaker to us Swedes. We put them on our toddlers as well as our grandparents. Speaking of Converse, this year they made a sneaker in various colors with a sole an inch or so higher off the ground!

During Pride Week in Stockholm, I saw more platform sneakers than ever. At first, I wrinkled my nose and didn’t think much of the trend. But now it’s August, and I am sold. I am scouting every website and store trying to find the perfect pair. And I won’t be stopping at one. I am aiming to get one classic pair, and at least one unique one. With the animal print trend going strong, I am leaning towards an animal printed pair!

You can find these amazing shoes in stores such as H&M and Converse, as well as online at Shopbop, Have2have and Shopstyle.

Clockwise: Converse, Defeeter, H&M, Converse & Superga
