Below is a list of drinks inspired by our country’s leaders, with directions on how to make them yourself if you’re feeling extra festive this Monday. So whether you’ll be alone on the couch watching John Adams on HBO-Go or throwing a presidential rager, here are a few suggestions to give you a head start on the celebration.
#30 – Calvin Coolidge – This recipe was created in the 1920’s, when Prohibition was active:
Ransom Bishop’s Long Island Iced Tea
- One fresh lemon half
- One fresh lime half
Squeeze both into a pint glass and add:
- ½ oz. Rum
- 1 oz. Vodka
- 1 oz. Whiskey
- ½ oz. Gin
- ½ oz. Tequila
- ½ oz. Maple Syrup
Mix thoroughly, then pour in 4 to 5 oz. soda water (or Coke) without stirring.
