Bored of the same old music on your I-pod? Are you finally growing tired of listening to the five top played artists in your I-tunes? New in the music scene are twin brothers, Luke and Ike Fontaine, and they have just what you need to spice up your music selection.

With a father who was a member of a bluegrass band, and thus having grown up with music around all of the time, these brothers were destined for musical greatness. Once they got their first guitar lesson, at age seven, from their grandmother, their passion for the art was ignited. They soon learned how to play, and once they understand the methods “the rest was history,” according to the brothers.

Luke and Ike grew up on a farm in Duxbury, Massachusetts, where they grew cranberries and sailed for fun. Upon their graduation from high school, they jumped right into the music industry. They signed with Mad River Productions, an indie record label out of New Hampshire, and hired True North for the communication and marketing of the duet. Other than music, they teach both sailing and skiing in their spare time.

Working as brothers seems to come quite naturally for these two. When asked how it was to work hand in hand as brothers, they gave the heartwarming response that they have a healthy and close relationship, and that they love spending time with one another. They proceeded to joke, “it’s like having a nagging girlfriend all the time, but you can’t break up with them…”

Inspired by individuals such as Kenney Chesney and Joe Perri of Aerosmith, these two have very versatile musical interests, and gain inspiration from all different realms of music. On an remarkable side note, they actually grew up with Joe Perri’s son, Roman, who supported them since day one, and was always there to lend a helping hand.

Ever seen the X Factor? Well, while on the topic of famous friends, Luke and Ike were both good friends with Jillian Jenson of the X Factor, before she was even on the show! She had auditioned to be featured in one of their songs a year before being chosen for the show. The brothers saw the same spark that the X Factor producers saw in her, and chose her as their co-writer. They recorded the song and video, and the next thing they knew, she was on the gracing the X Factor stage with her talents!

Not only do they produce great and unique music, but they do it all for charitable causes. While in high school, the Fontaine Brothers put on a benefit concert with State Radio that benefitted Hope for Haiti and Invisible Children. This led to the initial idea for Our Two Sense, the charity organization that they created to tie in with their musical endeavors. The brothers chose one charity every few months to donate a percentage of their sales in music and merchandise to. Right now, they are benefitting an anti-bullying organization.

They are looking to build and grow, while having fun on their journey, for to them, “music is a lifestyle that you have to work at.” So, collegiettes, be on the lookout for these two rising stars from right around the corner from us!
