Not only does Suffolk University Hockey Captain Dan Feyock block everything on the ice, but he accomplishes so much on a day-to-day basis at Suffolk University.

Georgia: When did you start playing hockey and why?

Dan: I started skating when I was probably 2 or 3 and started playing when I was about 4. I started playing because both my brother and sister played so I spent countless hours in the rink every weekend and eventually felt it was something I wanted to do myself.

Georgia: Why did you pick to attend Suffolk University?

Dan: Suffolk was kind of the complete package when looking for a school. It had hockey, the perfect location, and with the major I wanted.

Georgia: What are some of your major accomplishments at school and with hockey?

Dan: As far as major accomplishments both at school and hockey I guess I have things I can put on a resume, but the biggest accomplishment for me is being able to give back to the school or to the team. To me there is nothing better than having a student come to you looking for advice on a class or a program or being there for one of the boys whether its something on the ice or if its something off of the ice, maybe a family issue or a relationship issue, whatever it may be.  My biggest accomplishment has been being able to be there for someone else and hopefully helping them in whatever they need.

Georgia: What is it like to be a captain for the Suffolk University Rams Hockey team?

Dan: To be captain it means you have to be able to take the good with the bad and roll with the punches. Sometimes things don’t always go your way and I have done the best I can to make sure the guys know that at the end of the day we need to stay together. It’s a true honor to have had 4 years in the program and see guys evolve off and on the ice. To me I just want the boys to know that at the end of the day, none of them leave anything on the ice and none of them ever doubt the effort and passion they put into it. It’s all about sacrifice and the team always comes first.

Georgia: How has the hockey team done under your leadership?

Dan: I guess to answer that question it would be best to ask the guys on the team. You can look at our record and kind of decide what you want from a wins and losses point of view. To me though it’s more than that, and I think this year especially we have a group of guys that has overcome a ton of adversity and will be better for it. I just hope that after I leave, I have left the guys with a sort of culture they can carry on and that take pride in what they do while playing here at Suffolk.

Georgia: What do you like to do for fun? (other then hockey)

Dan: Being from Western Pennsylvania I am big on being laid back and spending time with family. If I am not in Boston, you will be quick to find me back home just being lazy with my family, golfing with my brother, going shooting with my brother-in-law and sister, or just hanging out with my nephew as often as I can.

Georgia: What is your best Suffolk experience so far?

Dan: Its hard to say what my best experience has been because I have been very fortunate to have had multiple doors and opportunities opened up to me. I would say the best experiences I have are the time I spend working with other students to improve the school and programs for the next group of students that come through and obviously the times I have with the boys off and on the ice. It sounds crazy, but just spending time with the boys in the locker room before or after practice is something I really look forward to and something I will miss.

Georgia: Where do you plan on going from here?

Dan: No matter where I go from here, I will always find a way back to Suffolk in one way or another. Ill likely end up around the area for a few years but eventually I want to end up back home in Pennsylvania; It just feels like home and I feel like that’s where I belong eventually.

Georgia: What is your favorite professional hockey team? Favorite player? Why?

Dan: My favorite professional hockey team is the Buffalo Sabres. I have two favorite players: Steve Drago and my brother Anthony Feyock. First, Drago and I are the only two four-year seniors this year and to me that says a lot about who he is. We have stuck it out and are both incredibly happy that we did. Plus, I love watching the kid wheel around out there. I just have to make sure I keep my head up when he’s on the ice. Second, my brother was my major motivation to do something with hockey. He was a goalie but he had a “cup of tea” in the pro ranks and was always there for me when hockey got tough.

As part of a deep-rooted hockey tradition, Dan would like to say to the boys; “Boys, Ill eat the double max.”

Mackenzie's the name, Campus Correspondant for Suffolk is my game.
