The holiday season is now upon us. Now is the time to break out the Christmas decorations, pour yourself a nice cup of warm hot chocolate, and immerse yourself in the spirit of Christmas. One of the best parts of the season is listening to the carols, getting your spirits up and making you excited for the most wonderful time of the year.  Here’s a list of the Top 5 Christmas albums you should listen to for this holiday season:

5. John Legend- “A Legendary Christmas”

This album is filled with Christmas hits from the award-winning artist. The 14-track album kicks off with “What Christmas Means to Me” and Stevie Wonder playing the harmonics for the song. Some standouts on the track include “Silver Bells” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”.

4. Pentatonix- “Christmas Is Here”

The Grammy-award winning acapella group brings us their fourth Christmas album. Now considered a holiday staple, the kings and queen of harmony bring us holiday gems, such as a cover of Kelly Clarkson’s “Grown-Up Christmas List” and Marren Morris’s “When You Believe”.

3. Jessie J- “This Christmas Day”

Coming as a bit of a surprise from the British pop singer, who is known for her unconventional music style, Jessie J brings us a Christmas album that has all the stops. From lavish orchestras, to jazz bands, she stays faithful to the classics. The albums include a collaboration with Boyz II Men on “Winter Wonderland” and a mashup of “Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer”/”Jingle Bells” like no other.

2. “The Grinch” motion picture soundtrack

The soundtrack from Illumination’s reboot of the beloved Christmas story, features an iconic cover of Tyler, the Creator’s take on “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch.” Other contributors include the legendary Nat King Cole, The Supremes, Run D.M.C., and more.

1.”Merry Christmas”- Mariah Carey

No matter how much time may go on, this album will go down as one of the best ones to listen to get into the holiday spirit. The first Christmas album released by the popstar in 1994, Mariah Carey brought us all the greatest hits, like her iconic cover of “All I Want for Christmas is You”, as well as the soulful “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)”.

Whichever songs you choose to listen to in helping you celebrate the holiday season, this list of albums are the ones that express the spirit of the holiday best.
