Best Boston Picnic Spots

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Suffolk chapter.

During COVID-19, it is difficult to find things to do in the city while still following safety regulations. The need for some fresh air and sunshine might be just what everyone is needing, during a time when most are working from home.

Before all the leaves fall down and the harsh Boston winter hits, pack a blanket and your favorite foods and consider going on a picnic with your close friends.

There are several locations in the city that are perfect for a quiet, relaxing lunch outdoors.

1. Boston Public Garden

Sit in the grass, under the overwhelmingly beautiful weeping willow trees and feed the friendly ducks in the pond. This is the best spot for stunning scenery while you picnic with friends.

2. Post Office Square

This spot will be less crowded than the Public Garden but is along a few busy streets. The decor of lights and several colorful flowerbeds will make up for the noise of the city. This is a terrific location for a quick lunch and some great pictures.

3. East Boston Greenway

You should go to the East Boston Greenway if you are looking for a great spot with an incredible view. The Greenway has plenty of space to socially-distance from others without loud sounds or interruptions. Take a walk down the Greenway to find the best place to watch the sun set behind the city skyline.

4. Boston Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway

Take a look at the seven-foot mural and be surrounded by tiny birds and wildlife, while you dine with friends. This is a beautiful, unique location with plenty of space and lots to see.
