Alumni Diaries: Kati Casoli

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Suffolk chapter.

Not many people can say that they have been promoted more than once in just three years. But Suffolk University Alumni, Kati Casoli, can, and she has Suffolk to thank for that!

Name: Kati Casoli

Major: Communication and Journalism

Minor: Theatre Studies

Year of Graduation: 2011

Hometown: Saugus, MA

Astrological Sign: Gemini

LC: Why did you choose to study at Suffolk?

Kati: I chose to study at Suffolk University because it is located in the heart of Boston. I was able to commute to campus from my home every day, by just hopping on a bus. Suffolk had a variety of courses and curriculum that interested me. I also knew I wanted to study abroad and I heard great things about their study abroad program.

LC: Why did you choose the major you did?

Kati: I chose Communication and Journalism, because I felt it was a field that would provide me with many different career options.

LC: Favorite class and professor?

Kati: Suffolk U-News with Dr. Dana Rosengard.

LC: Favorite memory during your time at Suffolk?

Kati: My favorite memories came from having the opportunity to study abroad in London during my spring semester of junior year. While abroad, I also traveled to Italy, France, Scotland, and Ireland.

LC: What are you currently pursuing?

Kati: Currently I am working for a large banking corporation as the Teller Operations Specialist. I’ve been with this particular company for one year. I started as a part-time teller, then I got promoted to a full-time Senior Teller, and about two months ago, I got promoted again to the TOS at a different location (I am the Manger for the entire teller line). The company put me through a six week Career Development course, which I graduated from in August. I am currently going through another Development Program, which will take 22 weeks to complete. I used to work at a small credit union during my freshmen and sophomore year at Suffolk so I had prior banking experience. But I truly believe that Suffolk gave me the fundamental materials and knowledge to grow at a company fast.

LC: Were you involved with any extracurricular at Suffolk?

Kati: I was a minor in theatre, so I participated in theatre productions. I was in “Car Talk” my senior year. I also took the Suffolk U-News class. We did a live to tape newscast every Wednesday morning. It was intense!

LC: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Kati: I see myself married to my long-time boyfriend Dana. We have been together for 7 years. I also see myself continuing with the same company I’m currently with. At this company there is a lot of opportunity for career advancement.

LC: Advice for students?

Kati: Cherish every moment of your college years. You’ll miss them when they’re over. Participate in class…you’ll learn more that way. And take tons of pictures!
