All Five One Direction Albums Ranked From Favorite To Least Favorite

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Suffolk chapter.

I’m not exactly sure how it all started, but lately, I have been seeing tons of One Direction memories on Tik Tok and I absolutely love it, even if it makes me really nostalgic and miss the band more than I already do. Since seeing all these videos, I’ve been listening to all the One Direction albums on loop like I did back in the day, so even though I adore them all, I thought it could be fun to rank them from my most to least favorite for today’s article!

1. Midnight Memories

Putting this album at number one is a no brainer! I think that this album and 2013, in general, was One Direction’s peak. This album is a no-skip for sure, meaning I can listen to it all the way through without ever wanting to skip a track. Some of my favorite One Direction songs of all time come from this album and this era without a doubt, will always be #1 for me.

2. Take Me Home

Number one was simple, but I truly wish I could rank the rest at #2 because now it is going to get tough. However, “Take Me Home” was the first One Direction album I fell in love with and the first album I saw live, so it will always have a special place in my heart, and like “Midnight Memories”, there are truly no skips on this iconic album. It still to this day upsets me that the Target bonus tracks (‘Magic’, ‘Irresistible’, and ‘Truly, Madly, Deeply’) are not on any streaming platforms.

3. FOUR

I knew I definitely wanted to rank a later album #3 and I had a hard time deciding, however, I think I have to go with “FOUR”. This era was different from what One Direction had done and I absolutely love the sound of the album. I still remember the day in the cafeteria when ‘Fireproof’ had leaked on Tumblr and my friends and I spent our lunch period listening to it on a continuous loop.

4. Made In The A.M.

This was hard to do, but I have to give #4 to “Made In The A.M.” Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adore this album and cherish it since it is the last one we got, but there are a decent amount of skips on this album when I listen all the way through. It is also the only album we never saw live and the only album without Zayn, which is why I feel like it doesn’t feel the same, and it would be that way if any band member had left. Do I still cry every time I listen to ‘A.M.’ though? You bet!

5. Up All Night

I felt bad ranking “Up All Night” last since it was their debut album, however, it must go here because being truthful, I was not yet a 1D fan when this album came out. I became a fan in the “Take Me Home” era and listened to this one after the fact to see what I had missed. While this album definitely isn’t my top favorite, you can bet I still shout every single lyric word for word when listening because it’s impossible not to!
