Getting involved doesn’t take much. All you need is the motivation to help around you. You must want better for yourself and your community. Involvement can include volunteering, joining an organization, helping someone out in need, not leaving anyone left out, and many more. Getting involved won’t just help the people around you, but yourself as well. Think of it as networking. When you get involved, that gives you a chance to put yourself out there and meet new people. The more people you meet, the better chance you have of gaining some good opportunities.

Lending a Helping Hand

If you want to give back to your community, you can start by lending a helping hand to anyone in need. If you see someone struggling, stop and help them out. No matter if it’s homework, advice, a problem they need solving, you can be someone’s shoulder to lean on. It won’t kill you to be kind, it can take you a long way. You never know what someone is going through, so your actions towards them can either make or break them. Treat others the way you want to be treated. Be the change that you want to see.

Donations

Donations play an important part too. If you’re getting rid of some things, but know someone who can use it, then give it to them. Donating is a good way to get rid of good things without having to throw them away. What’s not useful to you doesn’t mean it’s not useful to others.

Organizations

Organizations play a big part in getting involved. No matter if you join one or start your own. They have organizations for everything you can think of. It’s impossible not to help the community within an organization.

Networking

Asking people about their problems is a good way to help your community. I know you won’t be able to solve all their problems, but if you do know how to help them, then do it. The more you talk and get to know people in your community, the more it would be easier to help.

So, in the end, become active. Start networking around your community. Get to know the people around you. The more you learn about your community, the more you can help.

My name is Aniyah Anderson I'm a freshman I'm from Lafayette, Louisiana with a major in Business Management. I'm on the marketing committee, and I choose to join her campus because of the elegance, the sisterhood, and the opportunities that I can gain. I'm also hoping to expand my social bubble and learn more about myself.
