Have you ever wondered if college is about to change forever? Studies have shown that college is already changing. According to data reported on LinkedIn, 79% of students say that authenticity matters in their college search (Khan, n.d.). It’s no longer about what you want to major in or following the perfect plan. It’s truly about being authentic.

College Admissions

College admissions are not looking for a flawless version of yourself. Instead, they look for how you deal with challenges, how you show resilience, even when things don’t go your way, and what lessons have shaped you into the person you are today. While having a strong GPA, being top of your class, or being president of the debate team is impressive, what matters is vulnerability, self –awareness, and showing maturity. This is why strong essays emphasize progress rather than perfection.

College Campuses

College campuses have shifted towards a more personalized, diverse, and career-focused experience over time. In the past, colleges followed a very limited support system for students. Today, college campuses emphasize career readiness by providing internships, career centers, and networking opportunities that prepare students for life after graduation. Also, colleges have become more diverse, welcoming students from different racial and social backgrounds.

So, is college changing forever? In many ways, it already has. College isn’t about having your perfect plan anymore. It’s about growth, honestly, and finding yourself along the way. As admissions and campuses continue to evolve, students are being encouraged to show up as they are and learn how to move forward, even without all the answers.
