A city break to New York is a dream shared by many. Last month that dream came true for me, to see the city for myself. As mentioned in a previous blog by HC Strath, New York is huge and has so much to offer to visitors. Especially if it’s your first time visiting as you want to see and do EVERYTHING. Despite getting up at 7am every morning, being out all day and walking an average of 9 miles each day, seeing everything we had set out to wasn’t possible.
Visiting the Rockefeller Centre was a great experience, from the United Nation flags outside surrounding the ice rink to the beautiful interior of the building and of course the top of the rock. The three viewing platforms allow for 360 degree panoramic views of the city. There is no set time for how long you can spend on the viewing platforms which is great because you can take your time and enjoy the spectacular sight before your eyes. Seeing the city from such a height is quite surreal as it looks exactly as it has been shown on various films and TV shows! Sadly the day I decided to go to Top of the Rock, it was slightly cloudy but I was still able to get a great view.
Taking a trip to Woodbury Common Outlets was another highlight of my trip. Getting there is simple, you can catch a bus from Port Authority Bus Terminal (2 minute walk from Times Square) the bus journey is around 40 minutes to an hour depending on traffic! It flies in as you can take advantage of the free wifi available on the bus! You can catch a bus back to the city whenever you finish your shopping which allows you to give your feet a rest for at least a little while!
The outlet features 220 stores including Nike, Michael Kors, Kate Spade, Burberry and American Eagle, all offering great deals! There are also a number of restaurants situated around the outlet to suit your needs! I managed to get some great bargains and loved the look of the outlet as its like a little village! Definitely recommend!!
