Lets Talk Babysitting with Ellen

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Strath chapter.

Let’s talk Babysitting with Ellen

How long have you been babysitting for?  Well I looked after my little brother after school since I was 17 and then I was looking after my neighbours children too, after that I began helping my mums friends out and have been doing that for 4 years now. My brother is still the hardest to deal with though!

Have you had any bad experiences whilst babysitting?  Nothing super bad but I did have one little girl sneeze on me when I was brushing her teeth so I got a mixture of sneeze and toothpaste on me, was freaking out for a bit!

What was your favourite time when babysitting? One woman took me to Santa Ponsa for a week as she was a single mum of two young kids and needed some chill time so I had this amazing holiday for free and had great time in the pool and playing mini golf with the kids!

What advice would you give to someone thinking about babysitting? I would say that you need to ask yourself if you’re really up for it. It’s brilliant fun but you need to have the energy and positive attitude to keep up with them!

What are your favourite activities to keep the kids entertained?Painting • Play-doh • Play parks/walks  • Baking • Board games

I'm Marjorie, studying towards a BA Hons Degree in International Business. I have always lived in Glasgow and love what it has to offer in terms of shopping, restaurants and nightlife! In September 2016, I embarked on my international exchange to Milan, Italy for 4 months which I absolutely loved!! Studying abroad allowed me to meet some lovely new friends, taste delicious food and visit beautiful lakes and cities nearby. I love going out with friends, getting dressed up, trying new things and meeting new people!
