BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Glasgow

Over 60,000 lucky music fans will be able to enjoy performances across the weekend

Saturday and Sunday will be similar to previous Big Weekend events, with a Main stage, an In New Music We Trust tent and a BBC Introducing stage at Glasgow Green.

 

Headling Saturday’s Main Stage with be Coldplay, with Example headling the In New Music We Trust Stage. Sunday is the turn of Kasabian on the INMWT stage and Katy Perry closing the weekend from the Main Stage.

T in the Park

This major Scottish music festival that has been held annually since 1994. It is named after its main sponsor, the brewing company Tennents. The event was originally held at Strathclyde Park, Lanarkshire but since 1997 has been held at the disused Balado airfield, Kinross-shire. Originally a two-day event, the festival became a three-day event in 2007. The event is promoted by DF Concerts.

T in the Park attracts up to 85,000 people each day, along with 70,000 campers.

The Wickerman Festival

Wickerman is one of the UK’s best-loved independent music festivals and is now entering its 13th consecutive year. With ten stages featuring an eclectic and exciting mix of leading artists, alternative acts and up-and-coming talent, the two day summer party caters for all musical tastes. 

The Wickerman site is a wonderland for adults and children with a cinema, fun fair, circus entertainment, segway hire, mountain biking and array of arts and craft activities scattered throughout its fields. High quality yurts, tipis and cloud houses and spacious campsites complete the magical festival experience. Every year the festival stages an unforgettable finale, as thousands of fans flock to watch a towering 40ft Wickerman be spectacularly set alight.

Rockness

The three-day long Rock Ness offers a wide selection of bands in a fantastic location on the banks of Loch Ness near Inverness, in Scotland. Now into the 8th year, this year features some of the popular bands like headliners Basement Jaxx, and Example, plus Madness, The Vaccines, Bombay Bicycle Club, Ben Howard, Ellie Goulding, The Maccabees, Jessie Ware, Camera Obscura, and Newton Faulkner.
