What I’ve Eaten For Dinner Since I Became Responsible For Feeding Myself

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Stony Brook chapter.

Going away for college is tough, especially not being able to eat delicious home cooked meals made by our parents. We have to become our own caretakers and make sure we don’t die of starvation while balancing our hectic schedules at school. This is what I’ve been eating since I’ve become responsible for feeding myself:

  1. Egg that was supposed to be over easy but then became two-toned scrambled eggs

  2. Toast without butter and scrambled eggs

  3. Walmart instant gnocchi with spinach and parmesan cheese (thanks, Roommate’s Mom!)

  4. Walmart instant gnocchi with spinach and parmesan cheese (thanks, Yesterday’s Dinner!)

  5. Toast with egg that was supposed to be over easy and was over easy, but then I dropped that one on the ground, and the second one I made wasn’t as good, so it turned into two-toned scrambled eggs

  6. Bran that I thought was Raisin Bran but it was just Bran so I walked to 7/11 and got a few packets of raisins which was actually better than regular Raisin Bran because I could control the ratio of raisins to bran, which, as everyone knows, should be 3:1

  7. Pasta with broccoli and chopped up chicken sausage (Thanks, Roommate!)

  8. A piece of bread on a pan with some butter and then threw like, three handfuls of baby spinach on top of everything and waited until the spinach got all small and the bread started to smell burnt to take everything out of the pan. Then I buttered the pan again and made an egg over easy.

  9. Found ziplock bag filled with what I assumed was frozen Walmart instant gnocchi with spinach and parmesan cheese from the back of the freezer that everyone must’ve forgotten about, but not me.

  10. Pizza from Domino’s.

Yeah… I definitely can’t wait to go home for the holidays and stock up on as many home cooked meals as I can!
