Two Hair Tools That Help Me Style My Hair In Half the Time

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Stony Brook chapter.

Special hair tools such as hair dryer brushes and instant curling tools are all the rage right now, which means that tons of companies are making them so it can be easy to get lost in the endless wall of dryers and stylers at Ulta, Sally’s and other beauty stores.

I, who take great pride in my hair and have dreams of obtaining the ultimate mermaid flowy locks have done some homework and wanted to share what I consider to be two of the best out there when it comes to dryer brushes and automatic curling iron: CHI Volcanic Lava Ceramic Pro Spin and Curl and Sultra’s After Hours Thermalite Dryer Brush

Sultra After hours dryer brush is a few steps above and beyond every other dryer brush out there. Why? Because it is a 3-1 dryer brush. Most brushes are just a one trick pony with just the one permanently attached brush, but Sultra has attachments. It isn’t just a round brush, it has the option of using no attachment like a regular dryer except this one is completely vertical. The second option is a round brush attachment, and the third is my favorite- a flat brush attachment. Changing the attachments is quick and easy! When I first used the flat brush attachment I was not only able to smooth the hair but also add a slight curl or flip my hair under (and over) easily.

It is lightweight and contains something called Thermalite that promotes healthy hair and healing of your hair and scalp while you dry it. It also cut my hair drying and styling time by at least half because I don’t have to dry and then style it, I  can do it at the same time with one hand.

CHI’s Volcanic Lava Ceramic Pro Spin and Curl is different than any of the automatic curlers on the market. First off because just as the name suggests there is volcanic lava in the curl chamber! The chamber is surrounded by a protective heat barrier that prevents you from possibly burning your ears or face and hands which can happen with traditional or clipless curling irons. Secondly, the combination of volcanic lava with chi ceramic not only protect your hair from high heat but leave it shiny as well. I must say that after I use the Lava pro I notice my hair is very shiny and soft and doesn’t feel damaged at all. What I also love about this automatic curler is that my hair doesn’t get tangled in the barrel like it would with other brands. CHI’s tangle protection is dead on so the process is a lot smoother and quicker than other brands.

It is easy to use and quick. You can change the direction you want the curls to go by pressing  the left or right buttons. I was able to do half my head in about five minutes. If you love beachy waves all you have to do is run a comb or brush through your hair and you have the perfect beachy wave hair.

I do suggest that you use a heat protectant, I always try and use  a heat protectant from the company or family of company whose iron I’m using, lately my go to has been

BioSilk’s Silk Therapy® with Organic Coconut Oil Curl Cream  I put on some before and after I use heat tools. It is super hydrating and helps define the curls my hair drinks the stuff up. I absolutely love the smell and the lightweight feel. Chi 44 iron guard is a very well known heat protectant spray that I have used with great results as well.

Both the Chi Volcanic Lava Ceramic Pro Spin and Curl and the Sultra After Hours Thermalite Dryer Brush are available at Ulta as well as other retailers. You can find more information for the products at Chi.com and Sultra.comrespectfully.  BioSilk’s Silk Therapy with Organic Coconut Oil Curl Cream is available on amazon and Biosilk.com
