Let’s Make Senior Year Count

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Stony Brook chapter.

We enter our last year of undergrad with anticipation, stress, doubts and excitement. We want the highest average we can get. We want to ace the GREs. We want to get into the top graduate schools. However, you have to remind yourself that it is your last few months as an undergrad. If you truly want to make your senior year count, I have one sound word of advice: put aside your never ending thoughts of what lies ahead of you after graduation and instead say YES to all of the opportunities you have yet to take advantage of on campus.

To give you a few suggestions…

Join that Club You’ve Always Wanted to Join Whatever hobby you may have, at Stony Brook you are bound to find a club you’d enjoy. After all we have over 425 student clubs and organizations on campus!

Push Yourself to Go to School Events

Attend a football game, eat a bunch of strawberry-laden food at Strawberry Fest, cheer on your peers at the Roth Regatta, and have some fun dancing and singing to some good music at BrookFest!

Go to the Gym Exercising is a great way to relieve stress and should be essential in your weekly routine. Take up a yoga or cycling class you’ve always wanted to attend. Maybe even teach a hip hop class. Grab a gym buddy and go!

Explore the Campus There are so many places to explore on campus. Rent a bike and bike along the trails or sit outside on the grass with a good book and admire the beautiful foliage. Explore every inch of the campus before you’re done..who knows, maybe you’ll find a favorite lunch spot.

Lastly, Explore the Area Around Your Campus! There’s no telling if you’ll ever return. You may just graduate and never look back. Take the time now to do some sightseeing and window shopping in your area. You can take advantage of the Fall season and plan an awesome Halloween costume, go apple picking upstate, pumpkin picking out east and explore a few of the many nature trails Long Island has to offer.

Word to the Wise: Make college the best experience of your life and do everything you possibly can, as early as you can, having no regrets on graduation day!
