So, I’m weighing out the decision to take an online summer course or not. I decided I would write out some of the pros and cons to help my decision and yours if you are also considering it.

Con:

It can be very expensive, especially when taking a course through Stonehill. The good thing about this con is there are ways around it! There are scholarships and depending on what state you live in there are community and state schools. For example, I know that CCRI and URI both offer online summer courses for about half the price of Stonehill.

Pro:

You can get ahead on credits or catch up!

Con:

This makes for a busy summer. A summer course on top of a summer job, internship, or just hanging out with friends can be overwhelming.

Pro:

Taking a summer course can lighten your workload in the Fall. You can take one less class and have time to work on other things and get involved on campus!

Con:

A summer course can be intense. A typical 16-week course is being compressed into just 8 weeks or less.

Pro:

If you take a summer course at another school, it counts toward your credit but not you gpa. As long as you get a “C” or above your good to go!
