Corinne Lewis, a fellow HerCampus Member and one of my teammates on the Stonehill Women’s Lacrosse team, was one of the most welcoming and kind upperclassmen that I met when I first arrived here in the fall. After a couple months of knowing Corinne, I stumbled upon an instagram account, run by Corinne, called @_powerofme. The page was full of aesthetically pleasing and comforting pictures of quotes, stickers and clothes, all designed by Corinne herself.

Power of Me is not just an instagram page, it is a website and a business featuring products designed by Corinne, but is also something much more. It is a platform to open discussion, awareness and “speaks out about difficult topics such as eating disorders, body image, and self-doubt… Power of Me invites connection, vulnerability, a place to feel seen, heard, and validated. My brand believes that together, we can make the change towards normalizing women of all shapes and sizes”, says Corinne. “While fighting my own journey with an eating disorder and currently in recovery, I’ve struggled with body image throughout my teen and young adult years. I was inspired to create a platform to help end the stigma around what your body should look like versus what it does look like in your natural state.” Corinne believes “that joy can co-exist with pain and healing when you find the power to believe in yourself” which is what really defines the mission of The Power of Me.

Corinne is a graphic design major and finds comfort in using it as a creative outlet. She just came out with her first collective of sweatshirts with images and quotes such as “You Can Climb Mountains”, “Keep on Going”, “Speak Kindly to Yourself”, “Grateful For All The Things”. “Each of these designs was made to help the community navigate through the season they’re in, bring words of encouragement, and to remind us that we have the strength to keep going because every one of us is so needed here. I’ve designed and hand-drawn all of the apparel designs. I also wanted to make sure that the sweatshirts were the highest quality and created a color palette that matches the communities wants and colors of the season”, says Corinne.

Power of Me apparel is available on the website powerofme.online/shop where Corinne offers shipping or local delivery, or at a local store, The Bird & Bear Collective, in Holliston, MA. Corinne is also working on a summer collection and will be popping up at farmers markets in the Boston area this spring and summer. Her website is a must see, so go check her out!
