A List of Things to do Before You Graduate

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Stonehill chapter.

Graduating from college can be exciting, scary, nerve-wracking, and all the above. It is the ultimate step that says, “you’re an adult,” which many, including myself, are not ready to hear. I am a semester ahead, meaning I will graduate early due to how many credits I have. At first, I was super excited. “Maybe this will help me get a job early,” I thought to myself. Now, there is a piece of me that is sad that I will be missing a lot of the senior activities that my friends will be participating in. To relieve the sadness, I created a list of things I want to do before I graduate. I hope all college students do this because it gives you something to look forward to consistently.

1.) Travel Somewhere

  • This one can be tricky due to time and finances, but if you can do it, it will fulfill that desire for adventure. My boyfriend and I are planning a trip down South, and I cannot wait to see where we end up.

2.) Plan a *whole* day of self-care

  • Whatever your best form of self-care is, whether it be a spa day, a day to binge watch a show, or try a new workout class or two, remember to plan an entire day revolved around something that provides you with wellness. Trust me, it will be good for your body and your brain.

3.) Get Organized

  • Although it is important to have fun while you can, it is also important to have an organized mindset when it comes to prepping for the real world. You want to avoid the panic of starting a new job and not having good management skills by getting ahead.

4.) Go out with your friends

  • You may be moving out of your childhood home, but you are not moving far enough to lose touch with all your friends. Make sure to reach out and plan a get together where you can have fun, discuss plans going forward, and be a kid!

5.) What do you want to add to the list?

  • This one is up to you. Do something you want to put on this list; anything you want. It could be to ride in a hot-air balloon, to try a new restaurant, anything. It could even be to go on a blind date. Whatever you choose, make sure it is something you want. Anyone can give you advice, but it’s up to you to choose how you live your life.

Rachel is a current senior and one of the two campus correspondents at Stonehill College. She is majoring in communications and minoring in journalism. One day, she hopes to work in the public relations field representing a wellness-based brand such as Lululemon or Athleta. Her favorite hobbies include writing and skiing, but she also enjoys working out, baking, and going on adventures with her friends. At home, you will most likely find her at her favorite salad spot "Sweetgreen" or playing with her German Shepard, Bauer.
