A Letter to My Momma: Graduation Edition

I could write a letter to so many people to thank them for their guidance and support in getting me through college. Each one of my family members has played such an amazing role in showing me what I am capable of. They are my life, my best friends ever, and my biggest supporters. I could also write a letter to each person I have met throughout the last four years because they have shaped me, my friends, my professors, my roommates, my classmates, and the list goes on.

There is one person though that deserves a thank you letter for all the things I have put her through in these last four years especially. She is so strong, beautiful, kind, and confident. That woman is my best friend ever and my mommy. Words can’t describe how much her love and support has impacted me. So, thank you momma. Thank you for always answering my FaceTimes when I just wanted to chat…or when I had to walk by a large group of people and did not want to do it alone. I never ever felt alone when I was talking with her. Thank you for the countless advice that has allowed me to build confidence and truly know my worth. I am not afraid to admit now that college has been really hard for me. It always felt weird for me and never quite fit with who I am. My mom reminded me that I am here for my degree and my growth as a woman. She was right, because while a few tears were shed through experiences (okay, more than a few), I would not be the strong, happy, and smart woman I am today without my time at college. So, thank you mommy for always picking me up when I was down and always supporting me, even when I was being “silly”.  I tear up thinking about all the love that I have for my mom. It is just so much that I think I can’t physically contain it. Cheesy, but the truth. Her energy inspires me. When I am with her, I feel most like myself and then I want to go out into the world to make others feel that same way. I am proud of her because while I did it, getting through college, she did it too. Honestly, she deserves this more than me. Okay, before I start crying, I am going to end my thank yous here. I love you mommy. Thank you so much.
