8 Grey’s Episodes That Will Leave You In Tears

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Stonehill chapter.

If you’re looking for a good cry and have 42 minutes to spare I suggest checking out these emotional episodes…

Season 2 Episode 6 “Into You Like A Train” – In such a short time we became so close to Bonnie and Tom. Watching the Doctor’s make Sophie’s Choice for these two patients was harder than I had ever imagined. As McDreamy tries to tell Bonnie’s husband that she had died, his relationship with Addison and Meredith takes a turn.

Season 2 Episode 27 “Losing My Religion”  – After spending all of season 2 falling in love with Denny, we really felt the heartbreak that Izzie felt when his body rejected the transplant. It was hard enough to watch her collapse on his body, but almost harder to watch Karev take her body off. We were all lying on that bathroom floor with her.  Not to mention Meredith’s dog dying in the same episode. Why do you do this to us, Shonda?

Season 3 Episode 16 “Drowning on Dry Land” – You’ll be drowning in tears watching Meredith drown.

Season 4 Episode 16 “Freedom” – Meredith poured her heart out to Derek when she built him that house of candles. “I’m still mad at you. And I don’t know if I can trust you. I wanna trust you but I don’t know if I do. I am going to try to trust you because I believe that we can be extraordinary together rather than ordinary apart”. Meredith really has a way with words.

Season 5 Episode 24 “Now or Never” – 007, he dug his way into our hearts and I still cry watching him try to tell Meredith who he was.

Season 6 Episode 23 “Sanctuary” – Gary Clark. If you could read that name without getting chills you clearly aren’t a true Greys fan. The look in his eyes when he points the gun at Derek will stay forever in my heart. Knowing that Meredith is pregnant and still hasn’t told Derek doesn’t make things any better.

Season 8 Episode 24 “Flight” – Lexie’s final moments could not be more sad, she tells Meredith how proud she was to be her sister, and she confesses her love for Marks. It’s hard to let her leave this way knowing that her and McSteamy are meant to be together.

Season 11 Episode 21 “How to Save a Life” – This is by far the saddest episode of any TV show ever. We watched McDreamy grow and somehow each episode we fell more and more in love with him. Shonda really ripped out a part of our lives with this one.
