How to balance work and college in a pandemic

As college students, we all are worried about student loans. Dreading paying off tuition when we are out of school is what occupies half our time in school. Many people get campus jobs, and part time jobs, but lots of the time our majors and homework don’t allow us time to work. I work two jobs while keeping up with a full course load, and today I’m going to share some wisdom on how to balance making money with doing well in school.

1. Write out each of your schedules

Organizing your work and school schedules will be a life saver when trying to balance the two. I prefer to write mine out on a whiteboard and pin it to my wall in a visible area that I know I will pay attention to.

2. Start school assignments early

I am usually the queen of procrastination, but this will do you no good when working and going to school simultaneously. Doing your assignments right when you get them will be your best option even if it seems like the worst idea you’ve ever had.

3. Give yourself a break

I cannot stress enough how important “me time” is. Whether it’s just watching tv, getting some fresh air, or listening to music, your need to give yourself time to decompress and be proud of how much you’re handling.

My name is Angela Braddock and I am a student at Stonehill College. I am a Criminology major and I love dance, fashion, theater and wellness. I hope my insight can help you in some way, if not just help you escape your stress for a while!
