An Open Letter to My Little

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Stockton chapter.

Dear Little,

I never expected this to be a letter I’d write. I never expected to meet someone like you, someone to change my life, and someone I wish I got to know earlier in time.  While tonight was initiation and you were a transfer, I am so honored to be called your big. I am truly #blessed to have you in my life. In the short few months I have been there for you as your mentor, but you have done a lot more as a little, and because of you I have changed for the better.

The day you walked into the meeting room, I had no idea how much my life was going to change. Little did I know that after I vowed to never get another little, I would fall in love and spend late nights coming up with the perfect clues and the perfect basket.

Before you came into my life, I only cared about me. I didn’t know what it meant to be there for someone, to be a shoulder to cry on, or what it meant when I said “I’m only a phone call away.” Since you entered my life, I have done everything I can to improve myself and to be the best person I can be for someone.

I have devoted my time for you, a time that I find precious. I vowed to always be there for you, to follow through with any plans that we make. I promise to be your best friend, a brother, and whatever else you need from me at any given time.

I can’t wait for the following years to come. I am so honored to be the one to have convinced you to go to your first conference, give you your first set of letters, and I am so honored to have you in my life to help me become a better me. Without you in my life, I probably would still be an angry little ball of feistiness, but because of you, I have a bigger heart. I love you, and welcome to the family, Little!

Sincerely,

The best big ever.
