With midterms just around the corner, it’s really easy for stress to wreak havoc on your skin. In these times, it’s critical to take a few extra steps in your beauty routine to rest and restore your mind and body. Face masks are perfect for times when you have other things to do because you can apply your mask and continue to study!

If you’ve ever gone to the drugstore, you’ve likely seen Freeman face masks. While they’re incredibly raved about and often fan-favorites in the beauty community, it can be a bit daunting trying to select the best one for your skin type with all the unique options. So, I’ve simplified it for you and tried out four of Freeman’s best-selling and newest face masks to help you in your selection!

1. Avocado & Oatmeal Clay Mask, $4.29

We all know and love avocados to be a super food, but this “good kind of fat” actually provides benefits to your skin as well. Along with gentle, soothing oatmeal and the skin vitamin, Vitamin E, this mask is perfect for some facial TLC. I recommend it if you have normal to combination skin, like me, because it provides the right amount of balance. If you have oily or dry skin, this mask will work for you as well! For oily skin, you can expect for pores to be cleansed and a squeaky clean face. If you have dry skin, the hydrating vitamins and nutrients in the mask will leave your skin feeling nourished.

Also, who doesn’t love a green clay face mask?! You really can’t go wrong with this one if you’re just starting out with face masks. It’s a perfect starter-mask!

2. Charcoal & Black Sugar Polishing Mask, $4.29

Anything with activated charcoal is going to work wonders for your skin. It’s excellent at drawing out impurtities and making your skin feel incredibly clean.

As the product claims to be a mask, I applied it as so. Upon application, it made my skin feel warm, but not uncomfortable. Don’t be alarmed if it does that to you as well, it just means the activated charcoal is working! This product left my skin feeling super soft and rejuvenated!

My biggest problem with this product is that it’s labeled as a mask when it’s really more of an exfoliating scrub. It’s also quite messy, I had to apply it over the sink. I’d recommend you do the same as well, otherwise the black sugar will get everywhere.

3. Apple Cider Vinegar 4-in-1 Foaming Clay, $4.29

I’ve been toning my skin with apple cider vinegar (ACV) for years. That’s right, straight out of my kitchen pantry. While it may sound crazy if you’ve never tried it, it’s super beneficial for your skin. ACV is great at preventing wrinkles and cleansing your skin. (You’d be surprised how much excess makeup comes off your skin even after you thought you removed it all!) In high school, I would even do an apple cider vinegar rinse for my hair. Noteable supermodels, including former Victoria’s Secret Angel, Miranda Kerr, swear by adding a splash of ACV to their drinking water for an easy cleanse. Aware of the amazing powers of ACV, of course I was eager to try a new mask centering on this beauty super ingredient!

Freeman’s Apple Cider Vinegar 4-In-1 Foaming Clay mask can be used as a daily cleanser and scrub after you remove your makeup or applied and left to dry as a mask.  When I tried it for the first time, I was a little put off by the scent. It’s extremely fragrant of apples. Now any other time I would be totally for this, but when it’s on your face, literally right under your nose, it gets to be overpowering so I only left it on for a few minutes. The clay is a light salmon-colored shade that goes on nice and opaque, making it really satisfying to apply. Upon removal, I found the little pumice bits in the mask to gently exfoliate my skin, leaving it feeling nicely cleansed and smooth.

Overall, I recommend this clay mask if you’re into ACV or want to try it out. However, if you hate the scent of apples or have extremely sensitive skin, I’d stay away from it as the fragrance may irritate your skin!

4. Cucumber Peel-Off Mask, $4.29

If you grew up squeezing Elmer’s school glue on your hands in kindergarten, only to let it dry to get that satisfying pleasure of being able to peel it off, this is the mask for you. The Cucumber Peel-Off Mask is exactly what it sounds like: it has a light cucumber scent and you have to peel it off to remove it. It comes out as a thick gel consistency. Apply it in a thin layer and wait about 5 to 10 minutes for it to completely dry. Then, you can gently peel it off. It’s delicate enough for sensitive skin and doesn’t hurt.

Cucumber is super pampering and perfect for the ultimate girls’ spa night. The mask also contains aloe vera giving it a cooling effect and making it feel really comfortable on. Apply and peel-off to reveal instantly freshed skin! This mask is one of Freeman’s best sellers and also one of my favorites!
