Looking for something to do near campus this season?  The surrounding areas of South Jersey offer plenty of fun day trip options that will check off every box on your fall bucket list.

1. Pumpkin Picking:  The season isn’t complete without a trip to a pumpkin patch.  R and J Farm in Galloway is one of the closest farms to campus.  It is perfect for a day full of pumpkin picking and cute Instagram photos, complete with a hayride to the field.

2. Corn Maze:  Sahl’s Father Son Farm in Egg Harbor City is just one of the many farms near Stockton that features a corn maze.  According to their website, they are home to the largest corn maze in Atlantic County.  Sahl’s Father Son Farm is located about five minutes from campus and is great for an inexpensive and fun afternoon out.

3. Fall Festival: There are dozens of fall festivals in South Jersey.  One that is local to Stockton is the Fall Family Festival in Mays Landing, which will take place on October 30th at Funny Farm Rescue.  Visitors can expect to see vendors, performances, and other fall activities.  More information can be found here.

4. Go for a Hike:  Want a change of scenery from your usual route around Lake Fred?  Located just 25 minutes from Stockton, Batsto Village is a historic area that offers easy hiking trails for an afternoon spent outdoors.  It is located in the Wharton State Forest in Hammonton.  Be sure to also check out the visitor center and historic buildings while visiting.

5. Smithville:  Just about every Stockton student has visited Historic Smithville Village at some point, but if you haven’t, it is the perfect destination during this season.  Besides visiting the shops and enjoying the scenery, Smithville will host several events this fall, including the Zombie Walk (October 29) and Witch’s Day Out (October 30).
