Perhaps every once and awhile a girl faces this issue: looking a hot mess. This affliction presents itself at the worst times. You woke up too late for class and cannot seem to get it together. Then you remember this is the class with the really cute guy, the one you have been dying to talk to, who could quite possibly be your future husband (remember that statistic — 75 percent of Stanford alumni marry another Stanford grad?). Now, you have already decided on your future babies’ names and this day is going to throw off your entire plan.

No worries girl, I got your back. This little trick will help you make sure that you will never look this bad again. You ready? *drumroll*

Say hello to the Beauty Safety Kit. Yes this handy dandy small bag will contain products that will help you to “put yourself together” during life’s more trying times (a.k.a. midterm week or anytime you have a paper, exam, project or just partied way too hard).  Keep this in your bag or backpack for maximum effect.

Here is what you need to make your own Beauty Safety Kit, so you can always look wonderful.

Small Cosmetics Bag: First, you will need a small (think 2” by 3”) cosmetics bag, which you can find in a drugstore or beauty store. This will allow you to easily find your kit and move it to another bag.

Nivea Crème: Are you ashy? Does your face look dull and feel dry? Do your hands feel like sandpaper? (If you do have the last problem, please look for cocoa butter; it will be your new best friend.)  Have no fear; Nivea Crème is here!  One of my best friends showed me this wonderful beauty basic. It is a great lotion that is light and yet truly moisturizing, it can be used on hands, face or anywhere. Plus, it is only a dollar!

Travel Size Hair Serum: Whether you have curly, straight, thin or thick hair, frizz plagues all women worldwide. Go to your drugstore’s travel aisle or to a beauty store like Sally’s Beauty Supply and get a small size of hair serum. Common side effects of using this product include people asking you “How is your hair always so shiny?” and unsolicited stroking of your hair. Don’t be alarmed.  Your locks just look healthy and happy.

Burt’s and Bees Lip Shimmer: Go a step further from moisturizing your lips to giving them a littlepop of color. These lip shimmers have a large range of shades, so you can decide what color looks best on you. If you just want a natural color or desire a bit more pigment, you can definitely find the color you want. The small size of the lip shimmer is also ideal to fit inside a small cosmetics bag.

Eyeliner: Regardless of race or style, eyeliner can fit any girl. It provides a nice definition to the eye, which can pull together any look. If you prefer mascara, then I suggest getting a sample size of mascara. However, I advise eyeliner over mascara in this case because it has a quicker, easier application which you can do in a nearby bathroom.
